Shooting wins Vietnam’s first medal of the day at ASIAD 20
VOV.VN - Shooting delivered Vietnam’s first medal of the day at the 2026 Asian Games (ASIAD) on September 23, with Bui Thi Thu Thuy, Nguyen Thuy Trang and Trinh Thu Vinh securing a bronze medal in the women’s 10m air pistol team division.
The Vietnamese trio scored a combined 1,719 points, the same total as India, but edged their rivals for bronze after recording more 10-point shots, 46 compared with India’s 44. China took gold, while the Republic of Korea claimed silver.
The result also gave Nguyen Thuy Trang a place in the individual final after she finished fifth in the qualification round with 577 points. Thu Vinh placed 11th and Thu Thuy 25th and therefore did not advance to the final.
The bronze marked an early success for the Vietnamese delegation on September 23, with athletes competing in numerous disciplines from the morning.
As of 9 a.m. on September 23 (Vietnam time), the Vietnamese delegation had pocketed one gold and four bronze medals at ASIAD 2026.
