Vietnam, Cambodia step up inspection cooperation, economic ties

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Le Minh Hung hosted Cambodian Minister of Inspection Sok Soken and a high-ranking delegation in Hanoi on September 29, agreeing to deepen bilateral cooperation in state inspection, legal framework building, and trade and investment oversight.

At the meeting, PM Le Minh Hung welcomed the delegation and conveyed warm regards from General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam and other senior Vietnamese leaders to Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, King Norodom Sihamoni, Cambodian People's Party (CPP) President and Senate President Hun Sen, and Prime Minister Hun Manet.

He expressed confidence that under their leadership, Cambodia will successfully implement Phase I of its Pentagonal Strategy, achieving its goals of becoming an upper-middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income nation by 2050.

Affirming that Vietnam and Cambodia are close neighbors with a long-standing traditional relationship forged by the efforts and blood of generations, the Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam consistently attaches paramount importance to fostering the relationship characterized as "good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability."

PM  Hung expressed satisfaction with the positive and substantive development of bilateral ties across all fields. Political trust continues to be consolidated, while defense-security cooperation serves as a core pillar. Economic and trade cooperation is a bright spot, with bilateral trade reaching US$8.7 billion in the first eight months of 2026, a year-on-year increase of 8.3%.

Cooperation in education, culture, socio-cultural affairs, and people-to-people exchanges grows increasingly intensive and widespread.

Appreciating the practical significance of the visit, the Vietnamese Government chief lauded the substantive coordination between the Vietnam Government Inspectorate and the Cambodian Ministry of Inspection.

He proposed that building upon achieved results, the two agencies regularly exchange and review cooperation outcomes, maintain delegation exchanges at all levels, share practical expertise, step up joint inspections in trade and investment to assist enterprise compliance, and promote digital transformation and staff training within the inspection sector.

For his part, Minister Sok Soken expressed sincere thanks for the Prime Minister's reception and conveyed regards and congratulations from CPP President and Senate President Hun Sen and Prime Minister Hun Manet to General Secretary and State President To Lam and Prime Minister Le Minh Hung.

PM Hung congratulated Vietnam on its 81st National Day, the outcomes of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and historic milestones achieved in national development and modernization, as the country strives to achieve double-digit growth and strategic goals of becoming a developed nation by 2045.

Minister Sok Soken affirmed that generations of Cambodian leaders and people consistently attach utmost importance to reinforcing the "good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability" framework with Vietnam.

Informing the PM  on the outcomes of his working visit, Minister Sok Soken spoke highly of the achievements of the Vietnam Government Inspectorate and expressed thanks  for its effective support.

He affirmed that the Cambodian ministry will continue strengthening cooperation with its Vietnamese counterpart in accordance with the Prime Minister's guiding directions, expressing hope that the Vietnamese Government leader will continue supporting both agencies to scale new heights, thereby contributing significantly to bilateral governmental ties and overall relations between the two nations.
