Top leader To Lam receives warm welcome in France on official visit
VOV.VN - General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietbnam Central Committee and State President To Lam and his spouse were accorded an official welcome with full honours at the Invalides in Paris on September 10, as part of his official visit to France and participation in the 2026 International Space Summit.
Eleonor Caroit, Minister Delegate for Francophonie, International Partnerships and the French Abroad, presided over the welcoming ceremony.
When the motorcade carrying the Vietnamese leader and his spouse entered the main gate of the Invalides, he was invited to take his position at the ceremonial podium.
After military bands played the national anthems of Vietnam and France, the Vietnamese leader inspected the military band and the guard of honour.
He and Minister Delegate Eleonor Caroit then introduced members of their respective delegations attending the ceremony.
Following the ceremony, the Vietnamese leader is scheduled to attend a series of important activities as part of his visit, including witnessing the signing and exchange of cooperation documents, meeting the press and holding talks with French President Emmanuel Macron. The two leaders will also meet with executives of leading French and Vietnamese companies.
A relationship built across generations
Vietnam-France relations have a distinctive depth, shaped over generations by longstanding links in history, culture, education, science and people-to-people exchanges.
Despite the ups and downs of history, the two countries have built a relationship based on friendship, equality and mutual respect, with both sides looking toward the future.
French culture, language, health care, sports and science have left a lasting imprint on Vietnam, while Vietnam’s country, people and culture have also gained a special place in the hearts of the French public.
Amid a rapidly changing international environment, the mutual understanding and trust built over generations provide an important foundation for the two countries to further advance their relationship.
New momentum for Comprehensive Strategic Partnership
Building on this longstanding foundation, Vietnam and France have considerable room to expand cooperation in emerging areas, linking traditional strengths with new drivers of development such as digital technology, innovation and high-quality human resource training in strategic sectors.
Harnessing the potential of Vietnamese intellectuals and experts in France is another important avenue, creating greater opportunities for this community to contribute directly to Vietnam’s strategic development breakthroughs.
Alongside efforts to strengthen the social and human foundations of bilateral ties, broader cooperation in emerging fields is expected to deepen the Vietnam-France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, making it increasingly substantive, sustainable and resilient across generations.
