Top leader To Lam pays tribute to President Ho Chi Minh in France
VOV.VN - General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam laid flowers at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Montreau Park, Paris, on September 10, as part of his official visit to France.
He was joined by his spouse and other officials of the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation. Also present were Montreuil Mayor Patrice Bessac and French Communist Party National Secretary Fabien Roussel.
At the statue, General Secretary and State President To Lam, who is on an official visit to France, his spouse and members of the delegation respectfully observed a minute of silence in memory of President Ho Chi Minh.
Speaking at the site, the Vietnamese leader recalled the years President Ho Chi Minh spent travelling abroad in search of a path for national salvation. He also expressed gratitude to the French people who showed affection for and supported Ho Chi Minh during his time in France.
The visit holds special significance as it takes place in the year marking the 115th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s first arrival in France (1911-2026).
According to General Secretary and State President To Lam, during his journey to seek a path for national salvation, President Ho Chi Minh received the companionship and support of French friends and comrades. His years in France also helped lay important foundations for the friendship between the two peoples.
Montreuil preserves Ho Chi Minh’s legacy
Montreau Park has long been regarded as a special place for the Vietnamese community in France. The Ho Chi Minh Space, located within the Museum of Living History, houses photographs, documents and artifacts related to President Ho Chi Minh’s revolutionary activities during his years in France.
General Secretary and State President To Lam expressed his appreciation to the authorities and people of Montreuil for preserving the Ho Chi Minh Space as part of the city’s cultural heritage.
Mayor Patrice Bessac affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh is an inseparable part of Montreuil’s history. He stressed that solidarity and friendship between Montreuil and Vietnam have been nurtured over generations and are a source of pride for the city.
According to Mayor Bessac, Montreuil will continue to preserve the legacy of President Ho Chi Minh and the history of Vietnam-France relations, while seeking to open up new avenues for cooperation with Vietnam.
On the occasion, General Secretary and State President To Lam visited the Ho Chi Minh Space and signed the Guest Book. He said the documents, photographs and memorabilia preserved there help present-day generations gain a deeper understanding of President Ho Chi Minh’s revolutionary life, the history of Vietnam-France relations and the affection the French people have shown toward Vietnam.
The leader hoped that the authorities and people of Montreuil would continue to preserve the Ho Chi Minh Space, helping safeguard Vietnam’s historical legacy in France and further strengthen the friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and France.
