VOV.VN - The Mongolia-Vietnam Parliamentary Group and the Vietnam-Mongolia Parliamentary Group should continue serving as bridges between the two legislatures, while promoting business connectivity, people-to-people exchanges and substantive cooperation between the two countries.

Vietnamese National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man made the request during his meeting with Chairwoman of the Mongolia-Vietnam Parliamentary Group J. Bayarmaa at the State Palace in Ulaanbaatar on September 10, as part of his official visit to Mongolia.

Bridging the two parliaments and countries

National Assembly President Man spoke highly of the contributions made by Chairwoman J. Bayarmaa and members of the Mongolia-Vietnam Parliamentary Group to advancing cooperation between the two legislatures as well as friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Mongolia.

He said Mongolia’s development achievements in recent years have been supported by the active contributions of its parliamentarians and the Mongolia-Vietnam Parliamentary Group.

He expressed his confidence that the two parliamentary groups would continue to promote contacts, delegation exchanges, interactions among parliamentarians and meetings on the sidelines of regional and international parliamentary conferences, thereby strengthening mutual understanding, political trust and friendship between parliamentarians and people of the two countries.

Emphasising that the role of the two groups should go beyond serving as bridges between the two legislatures, the top legislator called on them to further promote their role as bridges connecting the two countries, business communities and peoples.

Making visits and exchanges more substantive

Building on the achievements and common understanding reached by the leaders of the two countries and the two legislatures, National Assembly President Man asked Chairwoman J. Bayarmaa and members of the group to further foster substantive cooperation between the two parliaments.

He suggested that the two groups step up exchanges of delegations at all levels, interactions among parliamentary groups and specialised committees, and exchanges among young and female parliamentarians.

In his view, visits and exchanges should be practical and effective, produce concrete outcomes, and translate into tangible progress after each visit.

He also asked the two groups to study and advise the two parliaments on increasing cooperation in areas with considerable untapped potential, while strengthening cooperation between the two countries’ judicial and law enforcement agencies.

Expanding digital, green and people-to-people cooperation

Speaking highly of Mongolia’s Open Parliament platform, which is integrated into the national digital platform “E-Mongolia” and contributes to building an open, transparent and people-centered parliament, National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man called on the two groups to further strengthen the exchange of experience in lawmaking and oversight.

Areas of mutual interest include the digital economy, innovation, green agriculture, food security, climate change response and sustainable development.

The National Assembly President also expressed his hope that the two groups would actively serve as bridges to support business connectivity and economic exchanges between the two countries; enhance people-to-people exchanges and cooperation in culture, sports and tourism; and promote each country’s image, potential and strengths.

The two groups are also expected to support cooperation among localities, friendship organisations and legislative research institutes of Vietnam and Mongolia.

Enhancing the role of the younger generation

Chairwoman of the Mongolia-Vietnam Parliamentary Group J. Bayarmaa expressed her belief that National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man’s visit would help open up new directions for cooperation, enrich the substance of the Vietnam-Mongolia Comprehensive Partnership and carry forward the two countries’ long-standing friendship built over more than seven decades.

According to her, cooperation between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the State Great Hural of Mongolia plays a particularly important role in the overall relationship between the two countries, helping ensure that bilateral cooperation agreements are implemented in a substantive and effective manner.

Agreeing with National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man on the role of parliamentary groups, J. Bayarmaa affirmed that members of the Mongolia-Vietnam Parliamentary Group would continue to beef up the implementation of cooperation goals and directions agreed upon by the leaders of the two countries, making practical contributions to Vietnam-Mongolia relations.

She said bilateral relations should be strengthened and developed not only at the State and parliamentary levels but also through greater people-to-people exchanges, particularly among young people and students of the two countries.

She hoped that student exchange programmes would be expanded and exchanges among young parliamentarians strengthened, helping the younger generation carry forward and further develop the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Mongolia.
