VOV.VN - National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man and his spouse Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga left Hanoi on September 6 for an official visit to the Republic of Korea to realise Vietnam’s foreign policy priorities and enhance the role of parliamentary diplomacy.

The working visit which lasts from September 6 to September 8 is being made at the invitation of Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Cho Jeong-sik and his spouse.

The Vietnamese delegation includes leaders of Party, National Assembly and Government agencies, as well as representatives from the Ministry of National Defence, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, several localities and relevant agencies and organisations.

This marks the first trip by a Vietnamese National Assembly President to the Republic of Korea in five years.

The visit is significant to the implementation of the foreign policy orientations set out at the 14th National Party Congress and Politburo Resolution 06, while further translating high-level orientations and agreements with the Republic of Korea into concrete cooperation.

Through the visit, Vietnam will reaffirm its importance attached to and desire to further develop the Vietnam-RoK comprehensive strategic partnership in a more substantive, effective and sustainable manner.

Vietnam-RoK relations continue to develop strongly across multiple areas, with the two countries having established a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2022. The two countries maintain regular high-level exchanges and cooperation through Party, Government and parliamentary channels.

Two-way trade reached US$89.5 billion in 2025, while the Republic of Korea is currently Vietnam’s largest foreign investor, with total registered investment capital reaching US$102 billion.

The two sides are working toward a target of US$150 billion in bilateral trade by 2030, with a greater focus on balanced trade.

Parliamentary ties have also been maintained through regular exchanges. In June 2026, National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man received RoK Ambassador Choi Young Sam and spoke highly of his contributions to promoting cooperation between the two parliaments and peoples.

The trip comes as Vietnam enters a new era of development and seeks greater comprehensive, extensive, timely and effective support and partnership from friends and international partners.

NA President Tran Thanh Man’s official visit to the Republic of Korea therefore carries significance not only for relations between the two legislatures, but also for broader bilateral ties, helping lay a stronger foundation for cooperation in a new period.

After concluding the official visit to the Republic of Korea, National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man will then make an official visit to Mongolia at the invitation of Chairman of the State Great Hural of Mongolia Sandag Byambatsogt and his spouse.
