Held along the Han River under the theme “Vision”, the festival's fifth competition night featured the two international teams in the final qualifying showdown before organisers select the top two finalists.

Australia celebrates ambition and innovation

One of Australia's leading fireworks companies, Skylighter Fireworks presented a display inspired by humanity's pursuit of new horizons and the determination to overcome challenges.

The performance combined multi-layered aerial fireworks with synchronised effects launched from the Han River, creating an immersive visual experience across the waterfront.

Carefully choreographed to music by Coldplay, Bon Jovi and Avicii, the display gradually built from gentle melodies to energetic climaxes.

Brilliant rainbow effects, comet shells, cascading gold-and-blue palm patterns and a powerful finale illuminated Da Nang's skyline, conveying themes of aspiration, optimism and the courage to push beyond limits.

Portugal blends tradition with modern artistry

Performing second, Portugal's Macedos Pirotecnia - winners of DIFF 2025's Most Creative award - once again impressed audiences with a meticulously designed performance.

Also inspired by the theme “Vision”, the team combined a dense sequence of fireworks with constantly shifting rhythms, blending traditional pyrotechnic techniques, including aerial shells, comet effects, Roman candles and fountains, with contemporary visual effects.

One of the evening's highlights came when the team synchronised its fireworks to the Vietnamese song Dòng Máu Lạc Hồng (The Bloodline of Lac Hong), creating a memorable connection with the local audience.

The performance concluded with a dramatic burst of titanium fireworks that lit up the night sky above the Han River, drawing enthusiastic applause from thousands of spectators.

DIFF 2026 enters its final stage

With the fifth competition night complete, DIFF 2026 has concluded its qualifying round, featuring fireworks teams from around the world and showcasing increasingly sophisticated pyrotechnic artistry.

Beyond the competition itself, the festival has continued to strengthen Da Nang's reputation as one of the region's premier summer destinations by combining world-class fireworks with live music, cultural performances and immersive entertainment experiences.

The two highest-scoring teams will advance to the festival's grand finale on July 11, where the DIFF 2026 championship title will be decided in what is expected to be the festival's most spectacular night.
