Hanoi bolsters cooperation with Singapore in urban planning, innovation, smart city development
VOV.VN - Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Dai Thang met with Singaporean Ambassador Rajpal Singh on September 17 to discuss expanding strategic cooperation in urban planning, innovation, and smart city management.
During the meeting, the municipal leader emphasized that the newly announced 100-year vision for the capital's master plan creates substantial cooperation opportunities for Singaporean enterprises, institutions, and research organizations. Building upon the upgraded Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations, Hanoi identifies science, technology, and innovation as core growth drivers in conformity with the Politburo's Resolution No. 57.
To realize this direction, the Hanoi People's Committee and the National University of Singapore (NUS) recently signed a joint declaration to advance an innovation ecosystem modeled after BLOCK71, alongside ongoing efforts to develop a next-generation Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) in Hanoi. In parallel, the capital aims to reinforce traditional cooperation areas, focusing on human resource development and enhanced urban governance capacity.
Ambassador Rajpal Singh praised Hanoi's development vision and affirmed Singapore's readiness to share its extensive expertise in smart city development, particularly in applying technology to traffic management, flood control, and urban administration.
The ambassador also raised certain operational hurdles encountered during the implementation of cooperation projects in the capital, while putting forward proposals and aspirations from the Singaporean business community to help connect and foster bilateral cooperation moving forward.
Hailing the role of Singaporean partners in boosting bilateral relations, particularly between Hanoi and Singapore, Chairman Vu Dai Thang expressed confidence that Ambassador Rajpal Singh will continue to make active contributions to elevating ties between the capital and Singapore, bringing cooperation initiatives and proposals into deeper, more substantive, and practical outcomes.
