Phu Quoc welcomes first Russian flight of 2026-2027 winter tourism season
VOV.VN - Phu Quoc Island in An Giang province officially kicked off its 2026-2027 winter peak tourism season on the morning of September 27 by welcoming flight VJ2867 carrying over 370 international visitors from Krasnoyarsk, Russia, which safely landed at Phu Quoc International Airport at 7:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, the delegation was greeted with a welcome ceremony featuring lion dances, traditional Vietnamese souvenirs, and fresh flowers. The event marks the start of the island's winter holiday campaign targeting travelers from Russia, a key international source market for Phu Quoc.
Direct air connectivity significantly reduces travel time for long-term winter leisure stays. To prepare for the peak season, local hospitality providers, transport operators, and entertainment complexes have upgraded service coordination. Meanwhile, the 45-day visa exemption policy continues to facilitate entry for Russian visitors.
The opening flight lays the groundwork for Anex Tour Vietnam's international route expansion plan through 2027 and beyond. Ozkan Liman, Chief Operating Officer of Anex Tour Vietnam, shared: “Phu Quoc is currently a leading famous destination not only in Vietnam but worldwide. Russian tourists particularly love the sunshine, beach, and white sand beaches here. Through each season, customer expectations are getting higher, and this season is no exception.”
Anex Tour Vietnam aims to bring approximately 15,000 Russian visitors to Phu Quoc monthly this season, with incremental growth targets set for the upcoming year to build toward year-round tourism operations on the island.
