Phu Quoc showcases tailored tourism services to growing Indian market
VOV.VN - Phu Quoc is showcasing tailored tourism services for the growing Indian market, with resorts, restaurants and attractions enhancing their offerings to meet the needs of Indian leisure, wedding and MICE travellers.
Phu Quoc taps growing Indian tourism market
India has rapidly emerged as one of the fastest-growing tourism source markets for Vietnam and key destinations like Phu Quoc. Indian tourist arrivals to Vietnam surpassed 612,000 in the first eight months of the year, representing a 38% increase year on year. To capitalise on this momentum, Phu Quoc Island is actively adapting its hospitality standards, luxury accommodation facilities, and culinary infrastructure to meet South Asian travel preferences.
From September 4 to 8, 2026, Vietnam Destination Management Company (TheVietnamDMC) organised a familiarization trip to Phu Quoc to evaluate how the island's hospitality sector is refining its service standards for the Indian market.
Gaurav Verma, New Delhi-based representative of TheVietnamDMC, said Vietnam - and Phu Quoc in particular - maintains a strong competitive edge over traditional regional hubs such as Thailand or Bali, thanks to its novelty, safety, and cost-effectiveness. Beyond leisure travel, Phu Quoc is increasingly recognised as an ideal emerging destination for ultra-luxury Indian weddings, backed by its scenic coastal landscapes and high-end resort infrastructure. Furthermore, the island and broader national infrastructure offer large-scale convention venues and resort facilities capable of hosting corporate incentive MICE groups from major Indian enterprises.
To assess the island's premium hospitality readiness, delegates conducted comprehensive site inspections of key resort properties, including Wyndham Grand Phu Quoc and Melia Vinpearl Phu Quoc, reviewing their accommodations, event venues, and guest services.
Tailored services target Indian travellers
According to representatives of Wyndham Grand Phu Quoc, the resort provides a seamless blend of tropical beauty, attentive hospitality, and memorable experiences for South Asian guests. Visitors can enjoy authentic Indian cuisine prepared by the resort’s dedicated Indian chef, complete with tailored breakfast spreads and customized group menus.
“India is one of our key priority markets, with strong potential across leisure, MICE, weddings, and group business. Our professional team has extensive experience in welcoming Indian groups, providing attentive and personalized service tailored to their specific needs and preferences,” stated a representative of Wyndham Grand Phu Quoc.
To demonstrate local operational capacity, host resorts and partner venues integrated specialized food and beverage offerings into the itinerary. These included an afternoon tea break featuring vegetarian and non-vegetarian Indian options, as well as set menus serving authentic regional dishes across partner dining establishments.
In addition to evaluating hotel and dining facilities, delegates visited prominent attractions to observe how Phu Quoc is aligning its broader tourism products with South Asian market expectations. The itinerary featured northern landmarks such as the Grand World waterfront district, a theme park, and an open-air safari park. Delegates also explored Phu Quoc by private vehicle to experience local coastal areas and ride the famous Hon Thom sea-crossing cable car.
The five-day programme concluded with an official gala dinner at Rajwadi Zaika Restaurant in Phu Quoc, where travel agents and local organisers reviewed field observations and discussed strategies to further align reception standards, refine tour itineraries, and enhance destination promotion for Indian travellers.
