VOV.VN - Vietnam finished top of the standings in standard chess at the ASEAN+ Age-Group Chess Championships 2026 on August 14, securing 10 gold, 11 silver, and 9 bronze medals.

The 30-medal haul placed Vietnam far ahead of second-placed India, which earned three golds, two silvers, and two bronzes.

Vietnamese players delivered strong performances across both men's and women's divisions. The team swept gold medals in multiple youth categories ranging from U8 to U20, while also claiming top spots in the open Challengers division and the senior S50 event.

Following their success in standard chess, Vietnamese players are competing in the rapid chess events before moving to the blitz competition on August 16, which will wrap up the tournament ahead of the official closing ceremony in Singapore.
