Over 11,000 runners to join VPBank Hanoi International Marathon 2026
VOV.VN - The VPBank Hanoi International Marathon (VPIM) 2026 is set to take place from October 16 to 18, expected to attract more than 11,000 domestic and international athletes across iconic routes in the capital.
Marking its seventh consecutive edition and the 19th community sports event organized by VPBank, VPIM 2026 introduces the "Hanoi Vibes - The City Moves" concept, blending pixel art design with the dynamic rhythm of Hanoi.
Athletes will compete across four distances: 42 km, 21 km, 10 km, and 5 km, all certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). The event features real-time timing systems, science-backed hydration and medical stations, and logistical support meeting international standards.
The race route leads runners from Hoan Kiem Lake past historic and cultural landmarks such as West Lake, the O Quan Chuong Gate, and the Hanoi Flag Tower.
The full marathon 42 km course offers a comprehensive tour of the city, passing through West Lake, Hoan Kiem Lake, and Thien Quang Lake, crossing three iconic bridges-Long Bien, Nhat Tan, and Dong Tru, and leading runners past major sites including the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Ba Dinh Square, and the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long.
Every kilometer on the course brings runners closer to the finish line while highlighting distinct layers of Hanoi's history, culture, and vibrant daily life.
