Fifth Techcombank Hanoi International Marathon to draw 14,000 runners in October
VOV.VN - The 5th Techcombank Hanoi International Marathon is scheduled to take place on October 4, expecting to attract around 14,000 domestic and international runners under the theme "Run for a Greater Vietnam".
This year's event, organised by the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Techcombank, and Sunrise Events Vietnam under the direction of the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee, is set to pass through 37 iconic landmarks and heritage sites, seamlessly connecting the capital's historical values with vibrant modern life.
Beyond its athletic appeal, the tournament has become a powerful economic driver for the capital. According to the 2025 Economic Impact Report released by the organisers, the marathon generated US$13.7 million for Hanoi’s economy last year, doubling the figure from its inaugural edition as participant numbers continue to grow.
These results show how the marathon has evolved beyond a community sporting event into a vital component of Hanoi's sports tourism ecosystem, stimulating local spending across hospitality, gastronomy, transport, and destination experiences.
Furthermore, the annual race fosters an active lifestyle among residents, integrating sports into modern urban living.
As an established annual event, the marathon is positioning Hanoi as a premier sports tourism destination, establishing an integrated ecosystem that connects health, culture, and urban consumption while elevating the capital's profile on the international sporting stage.
