Vinh Long, RoK's Sunchang bolster tourism and cultural cooperation

VOV.VN - The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long province held a working session on August 6 with a delegation from, the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Sunchang County, Jeonbuk province to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in culture and tourism between the two localities.

At the meeting, leaders of the Vinh Long Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented an overview of the land, people, cultural identity, and tourism potential of the province, while informing the guests of key orientations for local tourism development in the coming time.

The delegation from Sunchang County also introduced the cultural and tourism characteristics of their locality, particularly tourism products tied to traditional cultural values.

Both sides exchanged information and shared experience in tourism management and development, as well as the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage. They also discussed issues of mutual concern to expand cooperation opportunities, implement destination promotion activities, intensify cultural exchanges, and develop tourism products as a way of boosting bilateral cooperation in the future.

 At the working session, Deputy Director of the Vinh Long Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dung said Vinh Long boasts huge tourism potential with a network of rivers, islets, fruit orchards, traditional craft villages, and the distinct cultural identity of the Mekong Delta region

In recent years, the province has focused on developing green and sustainable tourism linked with preserving and promoting cultural values, effectively exploiting local resources, stepping up digital transformation, improving product and service quality, and strengthening tourism development links with domestic and international localities.

According to Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dung, the working session provided an opportunity for both sides to step up experience sharing and connect tourism agencies, associations, and businesses. At the same time, it allowed both parties to boost tourism promotion, survey tourism products, and study appropriate areas of cooperation.

Establishing cooperative relations with Sunchang County not only contributes to promoting cultural exchanges but also creates opportunities for Vinh Long's tourism sector to learn from experience, develop signature products, improve the effectiveness of local image promotion, and attract international tourists.

For his part, Deputy Governor of Sunchang County Jo Kwanghui, who led the delegation, highly appreciated Vinh Long's tourism development potential. Jo Kwanghui expressed expectation that following the meeting, both sides will soon materialize cooperation contents through cultural exchange programmes, tourism promotion, and experience sharing.

According to Jo Kwanghui, this will serve as a foundation to leverage each locality's strengths, enhance people-to-people exchanges, promote cultural images, and develop sustainable tourism, thereby deepening the friendly relations between Sunchang County and Vinh Long province, and making positive contributions to the sound cooperative relations between Vietnam and the RoK.

On this occasion, the Vinh Long Tourism Association and the Sunchang Fermentation Culture and Tourism Promotion Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance cross- cultural exchanges, and tourism development between the two localities.

Delegates also visited and surveyed several typical tourism spots on An Binh Islet in An Binh Commune to gain a deeper understanding of Vinh Long province's potential, cultural identity, people, and signature tourism products.
