Speaking at the two-day workshop titled "Preparing for APEC 2027: Strengthening Capacity for Effective Organization & Coordination," which opened in Hanoi on October 1, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu emphasized that Vietnam is actively preparing to host APEC Year 2027, one of the most critical multilateral diplomatic events with a view to boosting trade and investment while asserting the nation's responsible standing internationally.

Preparations are deployed through a three-tier coordination system spanning central, local, and international levels, focusing on mobilizing experienced officials while elevating integration capacity for the country's new development phase.

Experience from hosting the event twice before serves as a vital asset. However, according to Deputy FM Nguyen Minh Vu, each APEC hosting entails distinct scales, expectations, and regional contexts, making ongoing training, capacity building, and the updating of knowledge and skills essential for officials.

"We have established very close coordination with the APEC Secretariat and APEC member economies. They hold high expectations for Vietnam to once again demonstrate a leading role, evaluating the country as an influential APEC member and one of the few to host APEC three times. They have also expressed confidence that with such preparations, strong determination, and the close cooperation of APEC members, Vietnam will ensure a successful APEC year," stated Deputy FM Nguyen Minh Vu.

At the workshop, Eduardo Pedrosa, Executive Director of the APEC Secretariat, hailed Vietnam's early preparations for APEC Year 2027, highlighting experience from hosting in 2006 and 2017. Vietnam is expected to continue contributing to shaping the APEC agenda, fostering innovation, AI, business environments, and sustainable growth.

The APEC Secretariat confirmed its support for stepping up coordination and assisting Vietnam throughout the preparation and successful hosting of APEC Year 2027.
