Party General Secretary and President visits US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer
VOV.VN - General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam and his delegation paid a working visit to Pfizer Inc. in New York on September 22 as part of his working trip to attend the High-Level General Debate of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 81) and engage in bilateral activities.
During the working session, the top leader witnessed the exchange ceremony of a cooperation document between Pfizer and Vietnam Vaccine Joint Stock Company (VNVC) on enhancing Vietnam's vaccination capacity and disease prevention.
Pfizer and VNVC expressed their desire to contribute their respective expertise, capabilities, and resources to support healthcare priorities, discuss and explore cooperation opportunities, promote immunization, and strengthen the preparedness of the public health system, thereby contributing to Vietnam's long-term health goals.
The two sides expressed pride in their enduring partnership toward the shared objective of safeguarding and improving the health and quality of life of the Vietnamese people, while looking forward to continuing exchanges and exploring cooperative opportunities to protect and promote public health.
The working visit to Pfizer in New York by Party General Secretary and President To Lam, alongside witnessing the exchange of the cooperative document between Pfizer and VNVC, underscored the vital role of the private healthcare sector in joining hands with the government to spur the development of Vietnam's healthcare sector.
Earlier in March 2025, witnessed by leaders of the Ministry of Health and the US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, VNVC signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation with Pfizer to share knowledge and build capacity in high-quality vaccine manufacturing.
Under the MoU, Pfizer will assist VNVC in acquiring expertise to construct international-standard vaccine manufacturing facilities in Vietnam, aiming for domestic vaccine production to meet local demand and gradually integrate into the global supply chain.
In addition to cooperation with Pfizer, VNVC is expanding cooperation with major global pharmaceutical corporations to increase next-generation vaccine manufacturing capabilities in Vietnam.
