Official welcome ceremony for King and Queen of Thailand on state visit to Vietnam
VOV.VN - General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam and his spouse hosted an official welcome ceremony on September 15, at the National Assembly House in Hanoi for King of Thailand Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and the Queen on a state visit to Vietnam from September 14-16.
Those attending the welcome ceremony included Politburo members: Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Central Organization Commission; General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security; and Le Hoai Trung, Minister of Foreign Affairs; along with other officials: Nguyen Hai Ninh, Member of the Party Central Committee and Chief of the Office of the Party Central Committee; Le Khanh Hai, Member of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Office of the President; General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Member of the Party Central Committee and Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; To An Xo, Assistant to the Party General Secretary and President and Head of the Office of the Party General Secretary; and Pham Viet Hung, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand.
Ambassadors and Chargés d'Affaires of ASEAN countries in Vietnam also attended the event.
As the motorcade carrying the King and Queen of Thailand arrived at the National Assembly House, Party General Secretary and President To Lam and his spouse warmly welcomed the Thai King and Queen on the red carpet. Children from the capital presented fresh bouquets of flowers to the Thai King and Queen.
Amid welcoming military music, the Thai King and Queen, together with Party General Secretary and President To Lam and his spouse, stepped onto the podium . The military band played the national anthems of Thailand and Vietnam, respectively, while a 21-gun salute was fired from the Thang Long Imperial Citadel to welcome the King and Queen of the Kingdom of Thailand on their state visit to Vietnam. Following the anthems, the Commander of the Honor Guard of the Vietnam People's Army invite the leaders to inspect the honor guard.
Subsequently, top leader To Lam and the King of Thailand introduced the members of their respective high-ranking delegations attending the welcome ceremony. Immediately after the ceremony, the two leaders led high-ranking delegations from both countries in holding talks.
Vietnam and Thailand are two Southeast Asian nations with a longstanding friendly relationship. Since the official establishment of diplomatic ties in 1976, bilateral cooperation has developed rapidly in both breadth and depth. Both countries maintain sound relations and a high level of political trust between their leaders and peoples, serving as a solid foundation that continuously deepens bilateral ties across all levels and channels, including the State, Government, National Assembly, business sectors, localities, and people-to-people exchanges.
Thailand is currently Vietnam's largest trading partner within ASEAN, with 813 valid investment projects in Vietnam, ranking 8th out of 153 investing countries and territories and 2nd among ASEAN investors in Vietnam. Thai investors primarily focus on processing and manufacturing industries; electricity, gas, water, and air conditioning production and distribution; real estate; and wholesale and retail trade. Vietnam has 23 active investment projects in Thailand, mainly concentrated in trade, services, processing and manufacturing, and real estate.
Alongside economic ties, defence and security cooperation between the two countries has become increasingly substantive and profound. Tourism and people-to-people exchanges also represent bright spots in bilateral relations.
The state visit to Vietnam by the King and Queen of Thailand holds special significance, serving as a new historical milestone in the 50-year history of fine friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand.
