Vietnam sends condolences to Colombia over earthquake losses
VOV.VN - Vietnamese Party General Secretary and State President To Lam on August 11 sent condolences to President Abelardo de la Espriella, the Government, and people of Colombia over the devastating earthquake that struck the country on August 10, causing heavy loss of life and property.
The same day, Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung also extended condolences to his Colombian counterpart Omar Bula Escobar.
A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck western Colombia on August 10 has killed at least 169 people, injured more than 900 others, damaged hundreds of buildings and left many others trapped under the rubble as relatives and rescue workers searched desperately through the debris.
Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella declared a state of emergency to expedite the allocation of funds for earthquake recovery efforts, and said he would personally visit the disaster-hit area.
