The first thing many visitors notice is Tan Dinh Church, one of Ho Chi Minh City’s most recognisable landmarks. Its striking pink exterior, elaborate details and distinctive architecture make it one of the city’s most photographed buildings.

Yet the church is more than a photogenic landmark. It is part of the neighbourhood’s long history and one of the architectural features that give Tan Dinh its distinctive character.

The charm of Tan Dinh Ward lies in its blend of old and new, where long-standing shops, eateries, houses and buildings coexist with modern structures, creating a relatively quiet atmosphere in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City.

Not far away from the church, Tan Dinh Market is a must-visit destination. With its long history, this landmark is not only a trading hub for locals but also a tourist attraction that offers visitors a genuine glimpse into the daily rhythm of life in the city.

From food and dried goods to fabrics and a wide range of other items, the market stalls form a colourful tapestry of everyday life.

Tan Dinh Market has been designated a city-level architectural and artistic monument. Inside, daily trading activities continue, creating a blend of a long-standing landmark and the rhythm of modern life.

Time Out suggests visiting the market on weekend mornings, when the stalls and eateries are at their liveliest, offering visitors a chance to soak up the neighbourhood’s vibrant atmosphere.

After exploring the market, visitors can head to Bánh Xèo 46A on Dinh Cong Trang Street. The eatery is famous for big bánh xèo (Vietnamese pancakes), which are cooked directly over a charcoal fire, resulting in a crispy crust and a distinctive aroma.

Popular dishes like bánh xèo are a key part of the experience in Tan Dinh Ward for travelers to have a glimpse of everyday urban life in the city centre.

The Saigon - Gia Dinh Special Forces Museum offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the people and activities associated with a unique period in the city's history. It is one of the significant experiences during the journey to Tan Dinh Ward.

Do Phu Coffee – Dai Han Broken Rice on Dang Dung Street is not only a spot to enjoy coffee and broken rice but also deeply linked to the history of the Saigon special forces.

What makes the shop unique are the traces of the past preserved within the house. A hidden entrance to an underground shelter lies behind a wardrobe, alongside spaces once used for liaison, communication and document storage. Today, visitors can enjoy a coffee while exploring the historical stories preserved in every corner of the house.

The Temple of Saint Tran Hung Dao on Vo Thi Sau Street embodies deep-rooted Vietnamese spiritual traditions. It creates a serene atmosphere amidst the bustling residential area.

Tan Dinh Ward also owns peaceful alleys where charming houses nestle beneath the gentle, poetic canopy of bougainvillea (paper flowers). Patches of greenery, vibrant blossoms and the residents’ unhurried pace of life capture the beauty of everyday life in the neighbourhood, which visitors can experience on foot.

From its iconic pink church, traditional market, and delicious dishes to peaceful alleys, Tan Dinh Ward offers different experiences for travelers and makes it worthy of a spot among the world's coolest neighbourhoods in 2026.
