Relief convoys stream into flood-hit area, bring aid to isolated communities

VOV.VN - In the wake of severe flooding triggered by Typhoon Wipha, a continuous flow of relief convoys from across Vietnam is heading toward the flood-stricken districts in the western part of Nghe An province to bring aid to residents in isolated areas.

._convoys_stream_into_flood-hit_area_bring_aid_to_isolated_communities.jpg — The region, including communes such as Ky Son, Tuong Duong, and Con Cuong, has suffered extensive damage due to torrential rains and landslides.

._convoys_stream_into_flood-hit_area_bring_aid_to_isolated_communities.jpg — Many villages have been cut off, with roads, bridges, and communication lines destroyed or heavily damaged. Thousands of households have been displaced, and access to clean water, food, and medical supplies remains critically limited.

._convoys_stream_into_flood-hit_area_bring_aid_to_isolated_communities.jpg — In response to the province’s appeal, volunteer groups, youth unions, Buddhist followers, businesses, and individual donors from Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and other cities and provinces have quickly organised relief teams.

._convoys_stream_into_flood-hit_area_bring_aid_to_isolated_communities.jpg — Many groups are traveling hundreds of kilometers to deliver rice, instant noodles, bottled water, canned food, hygiene kits, basic medicine, and other necessities to those in need.

._convoys_stream_into_flood-hit_area_bring_aid_to_isolated_communities.jpg — To ensure that relief convoys can access flood-isolated areas, local authorities and relevant forces have mobilised personnel and heavy machinery to clear landslides and fallen trees along National Highway 7A.

._convoys_stream_into_flood-hit_area_bring_aid_to_isolated_communities.jpg — Following days of heavy rain from the remnants of Typhoon Wipha, multiple sections of this vital road have suffered severe landslides. Uprooted trees and large volumes of earth and rock have blocked the highway, cutting off access to several highland communes.

._convoys_stream_into_flood-hit_area_bring_aid_to_isolated_communities.jpg — Emergency response teams have been working around the clock in coordination with local governments to clear rocks and fallen trees.

._convoys_stream_into_flood-hit_area_bring_aid_to_isolated_communities.jpg — Thanks to these efforts, some key sections of National Highway 7A have been temporarily reopened, allowing trucks carrying essential relief supplies such as food, clean water, medicine, and clothing to reach the affected communities.

.convoys_stream_into_flood-hit_area_bring_aid_to_isolated_communities.jpg — Reopening access to these areas is not only critical for immediate relief delivery but also vital for stabilising the situation and supporting the broader disaster recovery efforts in the mountainous districts of Nghe An.
