The Netherlands is currently the largest investor from the EU in the Vietnamese market, with a total investment capital of about US$13.7 billion. It is the largest importer of Vietnamese goods in Europe, with two-way trade turnover reaching more than US$11 billion last year.

The two countries had signed an agreement on strategic partnership in climate change and water management back in 2010, followed by another on strategic partnership in agriculture and food security in 2014.

The pair hold talks immediately after the conclusion of the welcome ceremony.

The visit is expected to continue lifting bilateral relations to new heights as both nations are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties this year.
