General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and State President To Lam is welcomed at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi on May 5. The visit, the first by the top Vietnamese leader in his new capacity, takes place at a time when the two countries are preparing to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2026.

At the reception for Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval in New Delhi on May 5, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam proposes the two countries enhance the sharing of strategic information, expand cooperation in cybersecurity, protect digital infrastructure, combat high-tech crimes, and improve capacity to respond to non-traditional security challenges.

Meeting with staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in India on May 5, the leader describes each Vietnamese citizen in India as a people’s ambassador helping to promote the image of Vietnam and its people, preserve national cultural identity, maintain the Vietnamese language, and instill a sense of homeland attachment among younger generations.
