Every July, Vietnam pauses to remember the soldiers, war invalids and martyrs whose sacrifices helped secure the country's independence and reunification. Across the country, from national cemeteries and historical memorials to local monuments, millions of incense sticks are lit in remembrance of those who gave their lives for the country.

The commemorations also reinforce one of Vietnam's most deeply rooted cultural traditions: "When drinking water, remember its source"—a timeless expression encouraging every generation to honor those whose sacrifices made today's achievements possible.

In recent years, Vietnam has continued expanding policies supporting war veterans, wounded soldiers and the families of martyrs, while intensifying efforts to locate and identify the remains of missing soldiers through modern technologies, including DNA analysis. These initiatives reflect not only the country's political commitment but also its enduring moral responsibility toward those who dedicated their lives to national independence.
