Hue positions itself as a Green City for tourism

VOV.VN - The urban landscape of Hue, the former imperial city of Vietnam, is gradually transforming towards being more civilised, green, clean, and beautiful, helping the city become an ideal destination and increasingly appealing to both domestic and international tourists.

The gentle Perfume River, the majestic Ngu Binh Mountain, ancient royal tombs, and the peaceful rhythm of life make Hue an ideal retreat for those seeking calm amidst the chaos of modern life.

2._hue_positions_itself_as_a_green_city_for_tourism.jpg — As one of the pioneering cities in the movement “Say No to Plastic Waste”, Hue actively promotes waste sorting at source and encourages both locals and tourists to use eco-friendly products. Streets such as Le Loi, Nguyen Chi Dieu, and Dong Da have become prime examples of green spaces, with lush trees, clean pavements, synchronised lighting systems, and well-maintained public areas.

3._hue_positions_itself_as_a_green_city_for_tourism.jpg — The local government works closely with NGOs, social enterprises, and the community on initiatives such as cleaning the Perfume River, planting trees, and developing suburban eco-parks. These efforts not only improve residents’ quality of life but also create unique highlights for local tourism.

4._hue_positions_itself_as_a_green_city_for_tourism.jpg — The “Green Sunday” movement has gained strong support from the public. Every Sunday, thousands of citizens, from students to civil servants and workers, participate in cleaning streets, public areas, riverbanks, and neighborhoods.

5._hue_positions_itself_as_a_green_city_for_tourism.jpg — Many hotels and resorts in Hue are built with nature in mind, using renewable energy, incorporating green spaces, and favouring open designs. Ecological tours in places like Thien An hills, Tam Giang - Cau Hai mangrove forest, and the ancient village of Phuoc Tich also promote green and sustainable tourism models.

6._hue_positions_itself_as_a_green_city_for_tourism.jpg — Many international travel bloggers and YouTubers have praised Hue for its harmonious blend of heritage preservation and modern development. Charming old streets, clean rickshaw tours, and regularly held festivals that honour nature, culture, and people, all help Hue win the hearts of global travellers.

7._hue_positions_itself_as_a_green_city_for_tourism.jpg — Hue is gradually building a new tourism brand “Hue, the Green City” aiming to make the locality not only a heritage city but also a birthplace of sustainable values, serving as a model for urban development in harmony with environmental protection.

8._hue_positions_itself_as_a_green_city_for_tourism.jpg — While many tourist cities struggle with pollution, waste, and unplanned development, Hue’s green-clean-beautiful orientation demonstrates that a heritage city can still modernise without compromising the environment.

9._hue_positions_itself_as_a_green_city_for_tourism.jpg — With over 64,000 street trees, Hue surpasses the national standard for greenery in first-class urban areas, reaching 12.9 square meters of green space per person. This figure does not include trees in private gardens, nurseries, public offices, heritage sites, and landscape forests.
