VOV.VN - All high-and low-level fireworks sites in Ho Chi Minh City have been completed and are ready for launch to ring in the New Year 2026.
To welcome the New Year 2026, Ho Chi Minh City will stage fireworks displays at six locations across the city, including three high-altitude and three low-altitude sites. The fireworks will last 15 minutes, starting from 12:00 a.m. to 12:15 a.m. on January 1, 2026.The three high-altitude fireworks display sites include the area at the entrance of the Saigon River Tunnel in An Khanh ward, the central area of the new city in Binh Duong ward, and Tam Thang Square in Vung Tau ward. Among them, the site at the Saigon River Tunnel entrance will serve as the main venue, featuring the largest-scale fireworks display. At the Saigon River Tunnel entrance area, the fireworks programme is expected to launch 1,260 high-altitude fireworks shells, 60 low-altitude fireworks rigs, and 10 pyrotechnic installations. The total number of fireworks of all types at this main site is estimated at approximately 2,500 units. At the two remaining high-altitude fireworks locations in Binh Duong and Vung Tau, each site is expected to launch approximately 500 high-altitude fireworks shells, combined with 60 low-altitude fireworks rigs. The three low-altitude fireworks displays welcoming the New Year 2026 will be held at Dam Sen Cultural Park in Binh Thoi ward, the Saigon Marina IFC Tower in Sai Gon ward, and the Kim Long Villa area near Rach Dia Bridge in Nha Be commune. At each location, organisers have arranged approximately 90 low-altitude fireworks rigs.On December 31, all installation work at the fireworks launch site in the park above the Saigon River Tunnel has been completed, with all fireworks rigs firmly secured and fully ready for the New Year countdown.A representative of the technical unit says that this year’s fireworks launch site in An Khanh ward has been reinforced with a larger number of low-altitude fireworks compared to previous years. Notably, the programme features a special fireworks rack, comprising 100 large-caliber shells to serve as a highlight of the entire display. In addition, the programme incorporates a wide range of pyrotechnic racks illustrating visual effects inspired by rice sheaves, rhododendron blossoms and laurel trees. Several fireworks racks are arranged in coordinated green-toned colour blocks along both sides and the central area, combined with a paper-tube launcher system of approximately 300 tubes, creating a distinctive technical and visual highlight of the display.Compared with previous editions, this year’s fireworks display features brighter, sharper colour effects and a noticeably reduced level of smoke. In terms of design, the programme continues to present familiar shapes such as hearts, Mickey Mouse silhouettes, red chrysanthemums and blue chrysanthemums. New elements include the introduction of rice-sheaf, laurel and rhododendron formations – the visual effects to be deployed at this launch site for the first time.To support installation, operations and safety measures, the programme has mobilised around 150 personnel across the launch sites, with all work carried out in accordance with technical requirements and the approved schedule.According to the municipal administration, the New Year 2026 fireworks programme is funded entirely through social contributions, with no state budget allocated.
