Nguyen Manh Quyen, vice chairman of Hanoi municipal People’s Committee, said the first-ever autumn festival would help tourists to gain a greater understanding about Hanoi, promoting it as an attractive, safe, and friendly destination.

The opening ceremony on September 29 features plenty of dazzling art performances, showcasing the cultural values of the capital.

The debut event runs with the theme of “Thu Hà Nội - Đến để yêu” (Come to fall in love) with the aim of honouring heritage sites and landscapes, promoting cultural values and tourism products of the capital, as well as attracting more tourists. The festival's highlight will be a carnival featuring the participation of thousands of people on October 1 at a pedestrian zone set up around Hoan Kiem Lake.
