The Ky Phuoc ceremony is an important cultural and religious event for the community of Uoc Le Village in Dan Hoa Commune. It consists of the incense-offering ritual which embodies the tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source” and prays peace and prosperity for the nation and its people, as well as favourable weather conditions.

Incense-offering and commemorative ceremonies are held at Uoc Le Village Communal House, a national heritage site. The occasion also brings generations of villagers together, strengthening community bonds and preserving the village’s traditional cultural identity.

A traditional offering of giò chả (Vietnamese sausage) is made at the village communal house to honour the ancestors and craft masters who founded, preserved and passed down the craft.

Over the centuries, giò chả (Vietnamese sausage) making has evolved into a long-standing traditional trade, closely intertwined with the history and development of Uoc Le, a 500-year-old craft village.

Beyond honouring the ancestors and craft masters, these cultural activities and traditional festivals reflect the community’s determination to preserve and promote its local identity while supporting the development of craft village tourism.

On the main festival day, villagers, their descendants and artisans gather to recreate a space celebrating the village’s long-standing culinary tradition.

The traditional craft not only provides jobs and improves local livelihoods but also helps promote Hanoi’s culinary culture and support the development of craft village tourism.

Various forms of experiential tourism have emerged in the village, attracting growing interest from visitors.

Uoc Le’s traditional giò chả-making craft is currently being considered for inclusion on the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Visitors to Uoc Le Village can explore its ancient communal house and the centuries-old So Pagoda, a national heritage site, as well as houses and village gates that retain their timeless traditional charm.

Residents and local authorities in Uoc Le are working to preserve the village’s green landscape, create new spaces for visitors to experience local culture and restore traditional rituals to attract more tourists.
