Party chief To Lam arrives in Phnom Penh on February 6 to begin a state visit to Cambodia, where he co-chairs a high-level party meeting with Cambodia and a trilateral meeting with the ruling parties of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, at the invitation of King Norodom Sihamoni and CPP President Hun Sen.

Senate President and CPP President Samdech Techo Hun Sen, acting on behalf of King Norodom Sihamoni, presides over the official welcoming ceremony for the Vietnamese leader at the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh.

During talks held shortly after the welcoming ceremony, the two leaders vow to further strengthen Vietnam – Cambodia relations based on good neighbourliness, traditional friendship and comprehensive, long-term cooperation. The two sides also exchange views on development goals and orientations, agreeing to enhance coordination among Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.

Following talks, both sides witness the signing and exchange of cooperation agreements between ministries, agencies and local authorities of the two countries.

Also on February 6, Communist Party of Vietnam General Secretary To Lam, Cambodian People’s Party President Hun Sen and Lao People’s Revolutionary Party General Secretary Thongloun Sisoulith co-chair a trilateral meeting of the three ruling parties, reaffirming the strategic and long-term significance of Vietnam–Cambodia–Laos relations.

On February 6, Party chief To Lam meets Heng Samrin, Honourary President of the Cambodian People’s Party, agreeing on the need to strengthen public communication and education on the two countries’ shared history of solidarity and mutual support, with a view to reinforcing long-term, comprehensive and sustainable Vietnam–Cambodia relations.

Communist Party of Vietnam General Secretary To Lam and Cambodian People’s Party President Hun Sen attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the Cambodia–Vietnam Friendship School. The school that currently comprises 11 buildings with 54 classrooms will be expanded with two multipurpose administrative buildings, eight primary and secondary school blocks totaling 200 classrooms, two canteens and auxiliary facilities.

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh meets with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on the sidelines of high-level meetings between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Cambodian People’s Party, as well as a tripartite meeting of the ruling parties of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, to review recent cooperation and discuss measures to advance bilateral ties.

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also holds a working meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone to follow up on the conclusions of the earlier tripartite meeting of the leaders of the ruling parties of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.

Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man meets with Cambodian National Assembly President Khuon Sudary. The two sides agree to further strengthen political trust, maintain regular parliamentary exchanges to share experience in legislation, supervision and decision-making on key national issues, coordinate activities marking the 60th anniversary of Vietnam–Cambodia diplomatic ties in 2027, and promote people-to-people diplomacy.
