Contestants gather at Ha Long Marina Square in Vietnam's central province of Quang Ninh for the opening ceremony of Miss World 2026 on August 12. Themed "Welcome Miss World to Quang Ninh - Vietnam," the 73rd edition marks the first time the world's oldest beauty pageant is hosted in the coutntry.

The grand opening ceremony kicks off a string of Miss World events across Vietnam. The spectacular show draws over 10,000 spectators, seamlessly blending modern stage production with rich Vietnamese traditional culture.

All 111 contestants wear traditional Vietnamese Ao Dai from the "Essence of Vietnamese Silk" collection by designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam. The presentation embodies cultural integration and a shared message of peace through the beauty of traditional Vietnamese attire.

Complementing the Ao Dai are handcrafted conical hats featuring hand-painted depictions of Quang Ninh’s iconic landmarks, including the World Natural Heritage site Ha Long Bay and the Yen Tu monument complex, honoring the rich heritage of the host province.

Beauties from around the world in traditional Ao Dai create a vibrant tapestry of global cultures, offering Vietnam's warm welcome to international friends.

Host country representative Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc stands out with her impressive height of 1.86 meters. Born in 2001 in Can Tho City, she previously earned the first runner-up title at Miss World Vietnam 2022 before being crowned Miss Intercontinental 2022.

The 73rd Miss World contestants serve as ambassadors bringing Vietnamese culture and heritage closer to friends around the globe.

Julia Morley CBE, Chairman and CEO of the Miss World Organization, Miss World Vietnam President Pham Kim Dung, and reigning Miss World Opal Suchata Chuangsri receive flowers and commemorative tokens from Quang Ninh provincial leaders. In return, Julia Morley presents a commemorative plague to express gratitude to the local authorities.

Renowned artists perform patriotic and iconic songs, including "Hello Vietnam," "Ha Long Smile," and "Our Vietnam Melody," filling the night with vibrant Vietnamese rhythms.

Ahead of the opening ceremony, contestants and ambassadors take part in social welfare activities and visit Ha Long Bay during their August 8-12 tour, promoting Quang Ninh's tourism and culture across domestic and international media platforms.

The event marks a significant milestone for Miss World in Vietnam while serving as an opportunity to introduce Quang Ninh's natural beauty, rich culture, hospitable people, and investment potential to international friends. Following the opening night, the Miss World 2026 journey will head to Hai Phong and Khanh Hoa.
