Seven-month cashew exports hit close to US$3 billion
VOV.VN - Vietnam earned US$ 2.9 billion from exporting 412,000 tonnes of cashew nuts during the seven months of 2026, recording a 3% increase in value despite a slight drop in volume, according to Vietnam Customs.
In July alone, cashew shipments reached 70,600 tonnes worth over US$ 504 million, up 4% in volume and 10% in value year-on-year.
China and the US remained Vietnam’s top export markets. China led all destinations, accounting for roughly 24% of total volume with nearly 100,000 tonnes valued at US$ 719 million. The US followed, importing nearly 91,000 tonnes worth US$ 618 million, up 9% in volume and over 10% in value compared to the same period last year.
The UK also emerged as a key European market, with Vietnam holding a dominant 82.2% market share. In the first five months of 2026, UK cashew imports exceeded 10,000 tonnes worth US$ 75 million, up 9% in volume and 18% in value year-on-year. Growing consumer demand for healthy, minimally processed, and vegan foods has driven this steady growth.
Customs officials forecast stable demand in major markets for the remainder of 2026. However, export prospects are subject to raw cashew price fluctuations, elevated logistics costs, and technical trade policies, prompting Vietnamese processors to secure raw material supplies and accelerate deep processing to retain market competitiveness.
