VOV.VN - Ho Chi Minh City has submitted a series of major transport infrastructure proposals aimed at improving regional transport links, including connections to Long Thanh International Airport.

At the city People’s Council’s third session on June 19, the municipal People’s Committee submitted several proposals related to transport infrastructure, regional links and airport connectivity.

Among the key proposals are two regional transport projects connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Tay Ninh, with total estimated investment exceeding VND23.6 trillion.

The first is the extension of Vo Van Kiet Boulevard, a 15.1-km route designed to improve transport links between Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh. Phase 1 is planned with six lanes and an estimated investment of nearly VND16 trillion, with implementation scheduled for 2026-2030.

The second project is National Highway 50B, a 10.6-km route with six lanes and estimated investment of around 7.7 trillion VND, slated for implementation from 2026 to 2029.

The two projects are expected to improve access between Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh while supporting socio-economic development in the city’s western corridor.

The city also submitted an investment proposal for the Ho Tram-Long Thanh urban expressway under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, with total investment estimated at nearly VND47 trillion.

The more than 42-km expressway will strengthen transport links between Ho Tram, Xuyen Moc and Long Thanh International Airport, while improving access to seaports and industrial zones.

Once operational, the route is expected to support tourism, logistics and urban expansion in eastern Ho Chi Minh City and the wider southeastern region.

The city People’s Council is also reviewing several other infrastructure proposals, including adjustments to the Can Gio Bridge project, the Can Gio-Vung Tau sea-crossing route and the Ben Nha Rong-Khanh Hoi cultural park project.
