Man questioned for bomb threat comment targeting Long Thanh Airport
VOV.VN - A young man has been questioned by authorities after posting an online comment threatening to bomb Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai province, which he later described as a joke.
According to local authorities, the Domestic Security Department of the Dong Nai Provincial Police on December 17 detected an anonymous social media account that left a comment containing a bomb threat under a video related to Long Thanh International Airport.
Recognising the incident as a particularly serious act that directly threatened national aviation security and the safety of major political events scheduled to take place at the airport, Dong Nai police immediately activated emergency response procedures.
Through coordinated professional measures and close cooperation between the Domestic Security Department and the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention under the Ministry of Public Security, authorities identified the individual behind the account within 24 hours.
During questioning, the suspect, identified as N.L.T., admitted to the act, stating that his motivation was merely to joke for fun on social media and that he had no intention of carrying out the threat.
However, police emphasised that any act of threatening terrorism, whether through comments or content shared on social media, constitutes a serious violation of the law. Limited awareness or intent to joke cannot be considered mitigating factors, as such actions cause public alarm and negatively affect public order and security.
The Domestic Security Department of the Dong Nai Provincial Police is continuing to consolidate case files and evidence to handle the individual in strict accordance with the law, in order to ensure deterrence and prevent similar incidents in future.
