World Culture Festival 2026 in Hanoi to offer free screenings of 16 films
VOV.VN - Sixteen Vietnamese and international films will be screened free of charge at the second Cultures of the World Festival in Hanoi from October 2-4, giving audiences a chance to explore diverse cultures through cinema.
The screenings are among the highlights of the festival’s international cultural exchange programme and will take place at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel.
The three-day programme will feature screenings at 10am, 1pm, 3pm and 7:30pm, with free admission for local residents and visitors.
The 16 films feature diverse themes and storytelling styles, offering perspectives on people, history and contemporary social life. They include Hanoi: 5 Senses (Vietnam), The Rebel (India), Freeman (Australia), Beyond the Footsteps (Angola), White Eye (Israel), I Am Libyan (Libya) and A Faraway Fire (Chile).
Through different stories and cinematic approaches, the films explore human experiences, heritage, customs and family relationships, allowing audiences to encounter different cultures through the experiences of the characters on screen.
Taking place from October 1 to October 4, the festival is a significant event to mark the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s membership in UNESCO (1976-2026). The opening ceremony is slated for October 1 which will blend traditional heritage with the spirit of the modern era.
Alongside the film screenings, the festival introduces 45 cultural zones, 35 food stalls and a fashion area showcasing traditional attire from 15 countries. Nineteen international performing arts troupes are also taking part in the event.
