Quang Tri’s sky to light up with international hot air balloon festival in November
VOV.VN - The Quang Tri provincial People's Committee has announced plans to organize the Quang Tri International Hot Air Balloon Festival 2026 under the theme "Fly on the Peaceful Homeland" in mid-November.
The event serves as a major cultural, tourism, and international exchange highlight of the broader 2026 Festival for Peace.
The festival will feature 34 hot air balloons, symbolizing 34 provinces and cities, alongside six paramotors, one ultralight aircraft, and 10 ground-display balloons, gathering professional pilots and international ballooning delegations.
The opening ceremony is set to commence on November 12 at the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel National Special Relic Site, highlighted by a solemn flag-raising ceremony with a massive 2,025-square-meter national flag. A major highlight of the festival is the "Ballooning Night Glow" tribute, themed "Vietnam for Peace," which will unfold over three nights across three locations: Quang Tri Town (November 12), Ben Hai (November 13), and Dong Hoi Ward (November 15). These night shows will present fire-breathing displays, lantern releases on the river, and live music performances.
In addition, tethered and free-flying balloon rides will be offered at Liberation Square in Quang Tri Town (November 12), the Hien Luong - Ben Hai Banks National Special Relic Site in Ben Hai (November 13), and Ho Chi Minh Square in Dong Hoi Ward (November 14-15). The flights are estimated to serve between 150 and 200 passengers daily.
