VOV.VN - The Vietnam-Russia Heritage and Cultural Connectivity Space was inaugurated in Moscow on September 8 to preserve the legacy of cultural, educational and artistic cooperation between the two countries.

The inauguration of the space is expected to create a new platform for shared values to be carried forward, reimagined and passed on to future generations.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam, who was on a State visit to Russia, and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Chernyshenko jointly opened the facility at Russian State University of Cinematography named after S. Gerasimov (VGIK).

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Chernyshenko highlighted VGIK’s important role in the history of cultural and artistic cooperation between Vietnam and Russia. Generations of Vietnamese students who studied at the university laid the first foundations for Vietnam-Russia cooperation in cultural and arts education.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, General Secretary and President To Lam’s presence at the inauguration was a great honour for VGIK. He expressed his confidence that the Vietnam-Russia Heritage and Cultural Connectivity Space would become a symbol of friendship between the two countries and a venue connecting people who cherish Vietnam’s rich and distinctive culture, thereby further strengthening Russia - Vietnam cooperation.

Drawing on the legacy of cooperation built up over many decades, General Secretary and President To Lam underscored the important role of culture, education and the arts in Vietnam-Russia relations.

The relations between the two countries are built on a special foundation of profound political trust, steadfast and sincere bonds, and mutual understanding between two peoples that have weathered many historical challenges. Throughout this journey, culture, education and the arts have played a vital role, serving as a spiritual foundation and an endogenous driving force for bilateral relations.

Vietnam has always been grateful for and deeply values the wholehearted support and assistance provided by the former Soviet Union and today’s Russia in training human resources in culture and the arts for more than seven decades.

VGIK, in particular, played an important role in training Vietnam’s first generations of directors, screenwriters, artists and cinematographers, who helped lay the foundations for and shape the country’s film industry.

General Secretary and President To Lam noted that Vietnam has recently adopted a resolution on cultural development, reaffirming that culture and people constitute the foundation, an important endogenous resource, a major driving force and a pillar of the country’s rapid and sustainable development.

Cultural values need to be closely and harmoniously integrated into all aspects of social life and truly become a source of national soft power in the new era of development.

In this spirit, Vietnam wishes to continue close and extensive cooperation with Russia in culture, the arts and cinema. The two sides should further promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges through activities such as cultural festivals, film days, art exhibitions and creative forums in both countries.

The Vietnamese leader also emphasised that human resource training and connecting younger generations represent an investment in the future of bilateral relations.

“Heritage truly lives only when it is carried forward through creativity,” he affirmed, stressing that friendship can only remain sustainable when it is passed on to future generations through genuine hearts and authentic, vivid and relatable experiences.

According to the General Secretary and President, this is also the best way to inherit the legacy of previous generations, breathe new life into bilateral relations and make cultural cooperation, people-centred ties and people-to-people exchanges a strategic driving force for the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Russia in the new period.

Following the inauguration ceremony, General Secretary and President To Lam, his spouse and delegates from both countries toured the Vietnam-Russia Heritage and Cultural Connectivity Space.

The photographs and artifacts on display preserve memories of friendship, solidarity and shared humanistic values that have connected the peoples of Vietnam and the Russian Federation across generations.

The new space is expected to serve as a meeting point between the past, present and future, and between heritage and creativity, helping bring the peoples of the two countries closer together while continuing to strengthen the cultural and humanistic foundations of Vietnam-Russia relations.
