Party and State leader To Lam begins state visit to Russia
VOV.VN - General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and State President To Lam, his spouse, and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived in Moscow on September 7 local time, beginning a state visit to Russia from September 7 to 9 at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin.

Those welcoming the top leader and his delegation at Vnukovo International Airport included Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Stepanovich Bezdetko, and the Director of the Protocol Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Representing the Vietnamese side were Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi and his spouse, along with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia.
At the airport, Deputy Prime Minister Chernyshenko welcomed General Secretary and State President To Lam and his spouse at the aircraft stairs.
The top leader and his spouse then walked along the red carpet to the honor stand. The military band played the national anthems of Vietnam and the Russian Federation. Afterward, General Secretary and State President To Lam greeted the military flag of the Russian Federation, inspected the guard of honor, and witnessed the march-past of the honor guard.
According to the schedule, immediately upon arriving in Moscow, the Vietnamese top leader is set to meet with Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Ziuganov, receive representatives of the Russian War Veterans’ Association and the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association, and meet with embassy staff and the Vietnamese community in Russia.
Vietnam and Russia share a traditional friendship cultivated by generations of leaders and people of both countries. Bilateral ties feature a high level of political trust forged through time and historical changes. Recently, the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has continued to develop dynamically and achieved positive results.
The visit reaffirms the consistency, continuity and high priority the Party and State of Vietnam attach to the country’s traditional friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Russia.
It also serves as an opportunity for top leaders to hold in-depth discussions on strategic issues, set a long-term vision, and create new political momentum to comprehensively elevate bilateral relations, aligning cooperation with each country's development goals in the new period.
