Miss World 2026 offers Vietnam global tourism showcase
VOV.VN - Vietnam is set to host the 73rd Miss World pageant for the first time the with participation of more than 120 contestants from around the globe in an event expected to showcase the country's culture, heritage and tourism to millions of viewers worldwide.
Contestants will spend nearly a month in Vietnam from August 9 to September 5, taking part in cultural, charitable and promotional activities ahead of the televised grand finale.
The event also marks the 75th anniversary of the Miss World Organization, founded in 1951.
Showcasing Vietnam's culture and tourism
Beyond the competition itself, Miss World 2026 has been designed as a cultural journey, allowing contestants to experience Vietnam's landscapes, heritage and local communities.
The programme includes visits to Quang Ninh, Hai Phong and Khanh Hoa, where contestants will explore Ha Long Bay, mangrove forests, the Po Nagar Cham Towers, and other cultural and natural attractions.
They will also participate in activities highlighting Vietnamese cuisine, traditional arts and local customs.
Director Hoang Nhat Nam, a representative of the organising committee, said the main objective is to deliver a pageant with a distinct Vietnamese identity while introducing the country's beauty, culture and hospitality to international audiences.
Pham Kim Dung, president of Miss World Vietnam, shared every international visitor represents another opportunity to promote Vietnam's people, culture and national identity to the world.
Promoting Vietnam's national brand
According to the Miss World Organization, the pageant will continue to centre on its long-standing Beauty With a Purpose initiative, combining charitable projects with cultural exchange and tourism promotion.
Chairwoman and CEO of the Miss World Organization Julia Morley has said bringing the competition to Vietnam is intended not only to stage a global beauty pageant but also to support tourism, economic development and international awareness of the country.
Traditional Miss World events, including Beauty With a Purpose, the Head-to-Head Challenge, Sports Challenge, Talent, Top Model and Dances of the World, will take place in several Vietnamese localities before the final night.
Hosting Miss World will not only demonstrate Vietnam's ability to organise major international events but also strengthen the country's image as a cultural and tourism destination through the pageant's extensive global media coverage and digital platforms.
