Vietnam Airlines adds 60,000 seats for National Day holiday

VOV.VN - Vietnam Airlines Group will add 60,000 seats during the September 2 National Day holiday, bringing total capacity to nearly 725,000 seats across its entire network to meet rising travel demand on this occasion.

Accordingly, Vietnam Airlines Group will operate more than 3,600 flights, representing a 25% increase compared with the same period last year.

The additional capacity will be prioritised for routes between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as destinations with high passenger demand, including Da Nang, Cam Ranh, Hue, Da Lat, and Phu Quoc.

Following the summer travel season, Vietnam’s domestic aviation market continues to gain momentum, with the September 2 National Day holiday marking the last long holiday of the year. Short trips combined with visits to family and friends are becoming increasingly popular, driving a rise in bookings on many routes since early August.

By adding capacity early, Vietnam Airlines can provide more travel options on high-demand routes while helping maintain a stable market supply.

Alongside the additional capacity for the National Day peak, Vietnam Airlines is adjusting its domestic and international flight schedule in line with market demand.

From August 16, the airline will launch the Ho Chi Minh City–Colombo route ahead of schedule as demand for travel between Vietnam and Sri Lanka continues to grow rapidly. To mark the launch, Vietnam Airlines is offering round-trip fares from VND7 million.

On the domestic network, the carrier is also preparing to resume the Can Tho-Da Lat route from August 19, following the resumption of operations at Lien Khuong International Airport in Lam Dong province.

The route will be operated by Vietnam Air Service Company (VASCO), a member of Vietnam Airlines Group, using ATR 72 aircraft, with one daily round trip.

The capacity increase comes as operating costs across the aviation industry remain high, particularly jet fuel prices. Vietnam Airlines is deploying its aircraft fleet and resources to add flights on several key routes, helping ensure sufficient air services to meet passenger travel needs.

Vietnam Airlines is also offering its Chào Thu (Welcome Autumn) promotion, providing passengers with more options at attractive fares. Groups traveling on domestic routes can enjoy discounts of up to 25% on fares.

On international routes, round-trip fares from VND4.95 million, including taxes and fees, are available on a number of itineraries to Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Europe, the United States and Australia, subject to the terms of the promotion.
