Ta Xua listed by India’s NDTV as top experiential destination for 2026

VOV.VN - The Indian news channel NDTV has shortlisted 26 places across continents, including Vietnam’s mountainous Ta Xua region in Son La province, that deserve a spot on visitors’ 2026 bucket list.

The ranking highlights locations underrated and not on every tourist's map suited for travelers seeking authentic experiences and unspoiled natural beauty.

Ta Xua, often referred to as a cloud-hunting paradise, named Vietnam’s sole representative on NDTV’s list of recommended travel destinations for 2026. It features the so-called Dinosaur Spine trail - a narrow two-kilometer ridge running along the mountain, surrounded by valleys filled with floating clouds.

“Walking it feels surreal, combining adrenaline with stillness in one of northern Vietnam's least commercialised mountain regions,” said the television channel.

Other destinations featured on NDTV’s list span Europe, the Americas, and Africa, including Kotor (Montenegro), Svalbard (Norway), Neuchatel (Switzerland), Luang Prabang (Laos), Sapporo (Japan), Raja Ampat (Indonesia), Hurghada (Egypt), Mombasa (Kenya), and Cusco (Peru).

The channel noted that all selected sites are relatively uncrowded and provide memorable natural landscapes or experiences.

Following a recent administrative merger of three communes of Ta Xua, Lang Chieu, and Hang Dong, the area covers more than 230 square kilometers. Ta Xua is located approximately 240 kilometers northwest of Hanoi and over 100 kilometers from Moc Chau town, with elevations ranging from 1,500 to 1,800 meters above sea level.

The region enjoys a cool climate year-round, with November through March considered the peak period for cloud-hunting and mountain trekking.
