Singapore considers Vietnam a key outbound tourism market
VOV.VN - Singapore continues to see Vietnam as one of its most promising tourism source markets, supported by rising travel demand, increasing visitor spending and expanding air connectivity between the two countries.
The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and travel platform Traveloka on July 16 signed a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking the fourth phase of their collaboration since the partnership began in 2019. Besides Vietnam, the renewed document also covers Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Australia.
According to Traveloka, Singapore consistently ranks among the most searched international destinations by Vietnamese travelers.
Demand for bookings has continued to rise, while Vietnamese visitors are also spending more on travel experiences, reflecting Singapore's sustained appeal as both a leisure and short-haul destination.
Growing air connectivity, together with expanding bilateral cooperation in tourism, the digital economy and digital transformation, has further supported two-way travel between Vietnam and Singapore.
Melissa Ow, Chief Executive of the Singapore Tourism Board, said the renewed partnership underscores Southeast Asia's strategic importance to Singapore's tourism industry, and reaffirmed the long-standing collaboration between STB and Traveloka.
Under the renewed agreement, STB and Traveloka will jointly launch digital marketing campaigns promoting Singapore across Traveloka’s online platforms, develop destination content, showcase major cultural and entertainment events, and share aggregated travel insights to support market-specific tourism strategies.
A new feature of this partnership is the expansion of promotional activities into the Australian market, while further positioning Singapore as a regional hub for entertainment, festivals and major events. The campaigns will also align with Singapore's global tourism initiative, “We Don't Wait For Fun,” targeting young travelers and families seeking short-haul holiday destinations.
Albert, co-founder of Traveloka, said Singapore has consistently been one of the platform's most popular destinations, with demand from key source markets continuing to grow. He added that Traveloka would leverage its extensive user network and data capabilities to connect travelers with experiences tailored to their preferences.
STB and Traveloka plan to expand the use of data analytics and artificial intelligence to improve destination marketing while developing seasonal promotional campaigns linked to Singapore's year-round calendar of festivals and events.
