Russia and CIS emerge as bright spots for Da Nang tourism

VOV.VN trên Google News

VOV.VN - Vietnam’s central city of Da Nang welcomed more than 400,000 travelers from Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) during the opening eight months of 2026, marking a 94.2% year-on-year increase.

Russian arrivals neared 300,000, a 151.4% surge, bringing Russia to the city's top 10 international source markets at seventh place. Visitors from other CIS exceeded 112,000, up 20.8%.

This robust expansion creates substantial potential for the central coastal city to develop specialized offerings, including long-stay beach resorts, wellness tourism, culinary experiences, and cultural explorations.

The upward trajectory comes from proactive promotional initiatives by municipal authorities, highlighted by participation in the MITT Moscow 2026 travel exhibition and targeted campaigns across the Yandex ecosystem that reached 17.2 million users and tripled search interest in the destination.

Alongside promotional efforts, aviation connectivity expanded with roughly 16 weekly flights during the 2026 summer season from CIS hubs such as Astana, Almaty, and Tashkent, complemented by charter services linking Russian cities including Moscow, Kazan, Vladivostok, and Khabarovsk.

To evaluate market performance and shape future strategies, the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism hosted a networking conference on September 25 drawing over 150 delegates, comprising airlines, tour operators, and international partners, while honoring 12 outstanding partners for outstanding contributions to developing the sector.

Looking ahead, Da Nang plans to step up promotional campaigns in the Russian and CIS markets, maintain its presence at MITT Moscow 2027, continue media communication via the Yandex ecosystem, and coordinate the hosting of famtrip and presstrip delegations. The city will also support aviation connectivity and encourage deeper business engagement in product development and destination marketing.
