Da Nang, Nha Trang draw Korean travellers during Chuseok holiday
VOV.VN - Da Nang and Nha Trang are among the Vietnamese destinations drawing strong interest from Korean travelers during this year’s Chuseok (Korean Full Moon Festival), as shorter holidays encourage demand for destinations less than five hours away by air.
Data from online travel platforms shows rising demand among Korean travelers for flights and accommodation in Vietnam during the Chuseok holiday, which runs from September 24 to 26 this year.
Unlike last year’s Chuseok break, which lasted about a week, this year’s holiday is shorter, leaving less time for overseas trips. According to a survey by travel platform Skyscanner, searches for flights departing from the Republic of Korea rose 92.4% year on year, while the average actual trip length stood at just 3.3 days. With limited time, many travellers are prioritising overseas destinations within a five-hour flight.
In this context, Vietnam and Japan are among the destinations attracting strong interest from Korean travelers. According to Skyscanner data, Nha Trang ranked second among the most searched destinations on the platform, accounting for 13.9% of searches, while Da Nang ranked sixth with 7.4%.
Travel platforms Trip.com and Agoda have also recorded a similar trend, with Korean travellers favouring nearby destinations during the Chuseok holiday. Japan ranked first in terms of search interest, followed by Vietnam, with Da Nang and Nha Trang standing out among the Vietnamese destinations.
The trend also reflects the growing appeal of the two Vietnamese coastal cities among independent Korean travellers.
Da Nang and Nha Trang have maintained steady arrivals from the RoK thanks to convenient direct flights, well-developed resort infrastructure and affordable travel costs. Their combination of beach holidays and family entertainment also caters well to Korean travellers seeking short getaways.
