Vietnam to host Asian Pencak Silat Championships for second straight year
VOV.VN - Vietnam will host the 2026 Asian Pencak Silat Championships from July 15 to 23 in Dong Nai city after successfully staging last year's tournament, becoming the event's host for the second consecutive year.
The championships are expected to attract coaches and athletes from across Asia. Competition will feature 13 men's weight categories, ranging from under 45kg to over 110kg, and 11 women's weight categories, from under 45kg to over 100kg. The programme will also include artistic events in men's and women's individual, doubles, team and creative individual disciplines.
The country will field its strongest team and aim to retain its position at the top of the medal table after winning 17 gold, four silver and seven bronze medals to finish first overall at the 2025 Asian Championships held in Ha Tinh province.
With pencak silat not included in the programme of the 20th Asian Games, the 2026 Asian Championships will provide an important international opportunity for Vietnam's athletes to perform at their best. A technical meeting and the competition draw are scheduled for July 16 before competition begins on July 17.
