VOV.VN - Vietnamese women have left Uzbekistan after losing 1-6 to China in their last group match on March 10, ending their 2024 AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup campaign.

Earlier, they also conceded defeats to other Asian powerhouses - Japan and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea – in other two group matches.

All three losses were not too surprising, because Vietnamese women’ rivals are too strong.

In the opening match on March 4, Vietnam were beaten 0-10 to defending champion Japan - a team with many players who were runners-up at the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

Vietnam were then overwhelmed 0-6 to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in a match with two much difference in expertise and physique.

In the last group match, they scored a consolation goal against China that rank fourth in Asia and 19th in the world.

Despite the losing streak, the 2024 AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup that is getting underway in Uzbekistan from March 3 to 16 gave young Vietnamese girls the chance to hone in skills from archrivals in international competitions.
