VOV.VN - Defending champions Vietnam departed for Thailand on July 20 to begin the final stage of preparations for their opening match at the 2026 ASEAN Championship, also known as ASEAN Cup, against Timor-Leste.
After arriving in Bangkok, head coach Kim Sang-sik's squad travelled by bus to Chonburi, where the team will be based ahead of the Group A opener on July 24.
Vietnam will face Timor-Leste, Indonesia, Singapore and Cambodia in Group A. Following the opening fixture, the team will return home for their remaining group-stage match against Singapore at Hanoi's My Dinh National Stadium on July 31.
The defending champions will then travel to Bogor, Indonesia, to face theỉr hosts at Pakansari Stadium on August 3. Indonesia are widely regarded as Vietnam's toughest rivals in the race to top Group A.
Vietnam will conclude their group-stage campaign with a home match against Cambodia on August 7.
The team head into the tournament after an encouraging build-up, including a training camp in the Republic of Korea and a series of positive results in warm-up matches. They wrapped up their preparations with a friendly victory over Myanmar on July 18.
Meanwhile, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has begun online ticket sales for Vietnam's two home group-stage matches against Singapore and Cambodia through the OneU application.
Tickets for the Singapore match are available from July 17 until July 25, while tickets for the Cambodia fixture went on sale on July 20 and will remain available until July 29, or until sold out.
Vietnam are aiming to successfully defend the ASEAN Cup title after lifting the regional championship in the previous edition, with Kim Sang-sik seeking his first ASEAN Cup triumph as head coach.
