U23 Vietnam bow out of ASIAD football quarterfinals after heavy defeat to RoK
VOV.VN - U23 Vietnam fell to a 0-4 defeat against the Republic of Korea (RoK) in the men's football quarterfinals at the 2026 Asian Games (ASIAD 2026) at the Mizuho Stadium in Japan on the evening of September 25.

U23 Korea quickly increased the match tempo after the opening whistle, holding U23 Vietnam to 15 minutes of resolute defending before breaking the deadlock.
Striker Lee Young Jun rose to head home clinically, opening the scoring for the RoK. Despite the setback, U23 Vietnam displayed fierce determination and carved out genuine scoring chances. Most notably, Le Van Thuan slotted home the rebound after Quang Vinh struck the goalpost in the 35th minute, but the effort was disallowed for offside.
U23 Vietnam maintained a hard-fought contest against U23 Korea until the midway point of the second half before conceding a flurry of late goals. Kim Ji Soo (76th minute), Lee Young Jun (81st minute), and Kim Myeong Jun (88th minute) sealed the victory for the RoK.
The 0-4 loss eliminated U23 Vietnam from the men's football tournament at the 2026 Asian Games, while the RoK advanced to the semifinals to face the winner of the quarterfinal match between U23 China and U23 Thailand.
