Sports Authority of Vietnam, Vietcontent partner to boost sports economy
VOV.VN - The Sports Authority of Vietnam (SAV) and Viet Digital Content and Commerce Joint Stock Company (Vietcontent) signed a memorandum of cooperation in Hanoi on June 12 to promote the development of Vietnam's sports economy through research, policy dialogue, communications and resource mobilisation.
The signing comes as Vietnam seeks to develop its sports sector in a more comprehensive and sustainable manner.
The country's sports economy is estimated to be worth US$1.5 billion, although the figure has yet to be officially verified, highlighting the sector's growth potential.
Beyond efforts to improve performance in key sports, the country is also working to expand public participation in sports and physical activity, improve access to sports services, and contribute to better public health and quality of life.
According to SAV Director General Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet, developing the sports economy is an important way to expand resources for the sector in the coming period. He expressed hope that cooperation between the authority and Vietcontent will help promote research, dialogue and connectivity, creating additional momentum for the sector's development.
One of the key initiatives under this effort is the Vietnam Sports Economy Forum, jointly organised by the Sports Authority of Vietnam and Vietcontent. After three editions, the forum has gradually become a platform for dialogue among policymakers, experts, businesses, investors, event organisers, media organisations and other participants in the sports ecosystem.
The 2026 edition of the forum also marked an expansion of activities, adding research and the publication of the Vietnam Sports Economy Report to its specialised discussions, one of the initial efforts to provide additional data, analysis and broader insights into a field that still lacks in-depth research.
Under the cooperation agreement, the two sides will work together on research, professional exchanges, seminars, forums, communications activities, business networking and other initiatives aimed at raising awareness of the sports economy and providing reference material for policymakers, local authorities, sports federations, associations, event organisers, businesses and other market participants.
The SAV will focus on coordination, guidance and resource mobilisation within the sports ecosystem to ensure activities align with the sector's overall development strategy. Meanwhile, Vietcontent will contribute its capabilities in event organisation, communications, content production, research, data development, business networking and programme implementation.
