The lineup was selected through a fan vote launched by the tournament organizers following the conclusion of the ASEAN Cup 2026. Fans were invited to choose the standout players in each position from a shortlist of leading performers at the tournament.

Vietnam dominated the final selection, with goalkeeper Patrik Le Giang; defenders Nguyen Thanh Chung, Doan Van Hau, Pham Xuan Manh and Nguyen Van Vi; midfielders Nguyen Quang Hai, Nguyen Hoang Duc and Nguyen Hai Long; and strikers Nguyen Xuan Son and Nguyen Dinh Bac all earning places.

Teerasak Poeiphimai of Thailand is the only player from outside Vietnam to feature in the Best XI.

The strong representation reflects Vietnam’s impressive campaign as they successfully defended their regional title for the first time.

Head coach Kim Sang Sik’s side finished top of Group A with 10 points after beating Timor-Leste 7-0, drawing 0-0 with Singapore, defeating Indonesia 3-0 and overcoming Cambodia 3-1.

Vietnam then produced two 2-0 victories over Malaysia in the semi-finals to secure a 4-0 aggregate win and a place in the final against Thailand.

The first leg in Bangkok gave Vietnam a strong advantage, with Nguyen Hai Long and Nguyen Quang Hai scoring seven minutes apart in the second half to secure a 2-0 victory.

Thailand took an early lead in the return leg in Hanoi, but Vietnam responded after the break and completed a 4-2 aggregate victory following a Thai own goal. The result secured Vietnam’s fourth ASEAN championship, after their previous titles in 2008, 2018 and 2024.

Vietnam finished the tournament unbeaten with five wins and one draw, scoring 17 goals and conceding only once in six matches during the campaign.

Kim’s side also swept several individual awards. Patrik Le Giang was named the tournament’s best goalkeeper, Nguyen Dinh Bac won the best player award, while Nguyen Dinh Bac and Nguyen Xuan Son shared the Golden Boot with five goals each.
