AFC visits Vietnam U23 ahead of U23 Asian Cup 2026
VOV.VN - Representatives of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) visited Vietnam U23 shortly before the start of the U23 Asian Cup 2026 finals, during which several competition-related issues were discussed.
After arriving in Saudi Arabia, Vietnam U23 held their first training session as part of preparations for the tournament.
The team was then visited by AFC representatives and the local organising committee, who conducted an official working session at the team’s hotel, where the squad will be based during the competition.
During the meeting, AFC officials presented a commemorative plaque confirming Vietnam U23’s official participation in the tournament. Team captain Khuat Van Khang received the plaque on behalf of the squad.
AFC’s Referees Department also briefed the coaching staff and players on competition regulations, the Laws of the Game and key refereeing points that require particular attention, including the use of VAR.
The briefing was intended to help the team avoid infringements that could result in on-field disadvantages.
In the group stage, Vietnam U23 will face Jordan U23 on January 6, Kyrgyzstan U23 on January 9 and Saudi Arabia U23 on January 12.
