46th Chess Olympiad: Vietnam names team bound for Samarkand
VOV.VN - The Vietnam Chess Federation on August 6 officially announced its national team roster for the upcoming 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad, set to take place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, from September 15 to 28.
The prestigious team event, organised by the International Chess Federation (FIDE), will gather players from nearly 200 countries and territories competing in Open and Women’s divisions.
In the Open division, head coach Luong Trong Minh leads a squad combining promising young talents with experienced international competitors. Meanwhile, the women’s team under coach Lam Minh Chau relies on a core of seasoned national veterans, led by Grandmaster Pham Le Thao Nguyen.
Announcing the lineup over a month in advance gives the coaching staff time to refine training plans, improve physical readiness, and build match tactics for specific opponents.
Having repeatedly delivered strong performances and earned notable wins at previous Olympiads, Vietnam’s players look to build on past results and secure top standings in Samarkand.
